Test Fitter Position in Glasgow
Dynamic test team as a Test Fitter, where you'll engage in the full spectrum of pump testing procedures for both Original Equipment (OE) and Aftermarket (AM) products. Your role is crucial in ensuring the integrity and performance of our pumps through aprehensive testing cycle that epasses installation,missioning, testing, and dismantling. You'll also contribute to our ongoing efforts to enhance safety measures, streamline workflow, and reduce operational expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
Executing the installation of pumps and related equipment for testing, which includes establishing and securing temporary foundations, fitting pipework, and aligning rotors, along with connecting necessary services for lubrication and cooling.
Conduct operational tests, managing test parameters like temperature and pressure within prescribed limits.
Promptly report any discrepancies through the proper channels and collaborate with the team to address them efficiently.
Dismantle temporary testing setups and organise equipment storage following departmental protocols.
Maintain responsibility for the quality of your work, including self-inspection, paperworkpletion, and adherence to checklists.
Carry out maintenance tasks on testing equipment to guarantee its reliability and readiness.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at bolstering safety, reducing costs, and enhancing productivity.
Provide support in other assembly areas as needed.
Collaborate with management and test department colleagues to uphold thepany's policies and objectives.
Offer ongoing mentorship and training to fellow team members and apprentices.
Remain open to additional training opportunities, both internally and externally.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
A seasoned Mechanical Fitter with a minimum of 3 years' experience, ideally within a heavy manufacturing setting.
A proactive approach and a safety-conscious mindset are essential for managing risks in the testing environment.
Prior experience with rotating machinery and proficiency in laser alignment is highly desirable.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
Proven ability to work collaboratively, executing tasks efficiently to meet objectives within stringent deadlines.
Excellentmunication abilities, both in writing and verbally.
Eligibility for National Security Vetting and the capability to secure SC-level clearance.
