This role is based at Culham, Oxfordshire. The salary for this role is £48,376, and onsite working is expected for 3 days each week, and we actively support flexible working requests.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
The Role

As Change Communications & Employee Engagement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in planning and leading communications in support of change management programmes across UKAEA – a priority area in our Internal Communications Strategy. You will deliver activities and materials to connect with staff, inspiring them to help drive successful change. In this role, you will also develop and lead an engagement programme to help our employees understand and feel part of our clean energy mission.
Responsibilities:
1. Working as a change communications specialist with colleagues across the organisation including senior executives, project managers, divisional business leaders, People & Culture and Communications Managers. Advising and coaching on how to present change to their teams and overcome challenges.
2. Developing and implementing messaging to ensure that target audiences understand the changes and what they mean for them. Communications will need to be aligned with wider programmes and corporate messaging and engagement initiatives.
3. Enhancing UKAEA’s approach to employee engagement, managing a framework of engagement activities that reflect and appeal to a diverse employee base. Activities will likely include overseeing the delivery of action plans, staff communications, events and running engagement surveys.
4. Leading measurement and evaluation of change communication and engagement projects. Establishing a ‘listening culture’ with effective two-way communications mechanisms to enable staff to make their opinions heard, reporting insights to senior leaders, and ensuring that actions are implemented and learnings are incorporated in future programmes.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant communications discipline and/or HR professional qualification, or equivalent demonstrable vocational experience.
2. At least five years’ demonstrable experience in leading successful change management communications and employee engagement programmes in large and complex organisations.
3. Strong communicator with outstanding oral, written, editing and presentational skills.
4. Excellent influencing and networking skills – able to effectively manage senior leaders as well as a broad range of internal stakeholders including technical and project specialists.
5. Proven ability to turn complex information into simple, high-impact messages and content with clear calls to action for colleagues moving through the Change Curve.
6. Considerable experience of dealing with complex and sensitive information.
7. Highly analytical and experienced in preparing data and reports and presenting to senior management.
