Job title: Chief Engineer
Location: Andover
Rate: up to £750 per day outside IR35
Contract: 6 months+
Candidates must hold SC security clearance for this role.
Overview:
I am looking for a Chief Engineer for a client of mine who is a leading Engineering and Tech firm operating within the UK defence sector.
Responsibilities:
1. Work with senior client stakeholders to understand required technical capabilities and timelines across related sets of large-scale Information Systems delivery programmes.
2. Provide a leadership role within the client-side team.
3. Work with client-side functional leads to develop and action time-bound organisational capability delivery increments.
4. Identify opportunities to trial new ways of working with delivery project teams.
5. Identify lessons learned and provide feedback into the approach.
6. Provide outward-facing support into Army HQ, Defence Digital, and the Army end customer.
7. Cohere approach with transformation activities running outside of the immediate client-side delivery team.
Skills required:
1. Experience of leading Enterprise-scale solution development or assessment within a defence context.
2. Previous experience as a Design Authority in a complex Systems Engineering environment.
3. Practical experience of leading transformation programmes, whether in industry or client-side.
4. Experience of being an advocate for both Engineering and change activity.
5. Knowledge of architecture methodologies, standards, frameworks, and tools (preferably TOGAF/Archimate).
6. Experience in the application of ITIL in the MoD domain.
7. Good awareness of Safety and Security Management practices in the MoD domain.
8. Hands-on experience of configuration management & baseline development through lifecycle on complex programmes.
9. Knowledge and understanding of Military Communications and Information Systems (CIS) and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems.
