We are seeking newly qualified and experienced HCPC registered Clinical Psychologists to join our team.
With support from senior clinical psychologists within the team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop and shape psychological services for children and young people.
The post-holder will be responsible for the provision of a therapeutic psychological/mental health service to children & young people presenting with psychological distress and mental health difficulties. The role will incorporate complex assessments leading to psychological formulations and the delivery of effective interventions to this population. There will be ample opportunity to offer consultation and psychological formulation support and advice.
This role will involve working across the Wakefield District, with opportunities to see children in various community settings, as well as within CAMHS bases. A flexible approach to travel is required to meet the needs of the service.

Job Responsibilities
This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The post holder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed. The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with the post holder when necessary and in line with the service developments.
The post holder will provide a high-quality specialist clinical psychology service to clients as part of the multidisciplinary team within the service.
1. Provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention.
2. Provide advice and consultation on psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, and other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines, and the overall framework of the team and Trust's policies and procedures.
3. Supervise and support Psychology Assistants, Trainees, and Band 7 HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologists.
4. Utilise research skills for audit, policy, service development, and research within the areas served by the team/service.
5. Offer consultation and supervision when required by other agencies involved in the psychological, emotional, and behavioural well-being of service users.
Person Specification
Special Knowledge and Skills
1. Band 8a:
2. Good Psychometric Assessment skills.
3. Experience of assisting in training of Post Graduate Clinical Psychology Trainees.
4. Exceptional communication skills in verbal, non-verbal, and written modes.
5. Ability to empathise and develop good therapeutic alliance.
6. Ability to formulate complex processes.
7. Capacity to conduct Psychometric Assessment.
8. Ability to travel around the Trust as appropriate to the role.
9. Manual Dexterity for conducting tests.
10. Band 7:
11. A Current driving licence and access to a car during the working day is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered for any applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability).

Qualifications
1. Band 8a:
2. Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
3. Significant post-qualification experience in a setting relevant to the post.
4. HCPC Registration as a Clinical Psychologist.
5. Band 7:
6. Hons. Degree in Psychology.
7. Appropriate safeguarding training.
8. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.
Experience
1. Band 8a:
2. Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
3. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical abuse.
4. Frequent, protracted sustained and intense concentration.
5. Show respect and treat people with dignity.
6. Band 7:
7. Completion of supervised clinical practice in the NHS.
8. Ability to work within two models of psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £46,148 to £60,504 a year. This is a development post, dependent on experience.
