This is a unique opportunity to drive advancements in Solid Oxide Electrolyser Systems, contributing to the decarbonisation of emissions-heavy industries like steelmaking and future fuels.
About the Role:
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying, and operating Solid Oxide Electrolyser Systems in large-scale process plants. Working within the Systems Engineering Department, you will lead major work packages, collaborate with global partners, and help develop cutting-edge process technologies that transform energy systems.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing new process designs, specifying components, conducting process calculations, and applying industry standards. You will also coordinate the commissioning and operation of systems, supporting HAZOP studies, and mentoring junior engineers to ensure the successful delivery of innovative energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with global partners to understand requirements and specifications for electrolyser systems.
* Lead technical work packages, coordinating teams, and providing project plans and estimates.
* Design, build, commission, and operate Solid Oxide Electrolyser Systems in collaboration with customers and contractors.
* Develop mass and energy balance diagrams, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs.
* Apply hazard analysis processes (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID) and communicate findings to project teams.
* Provide technical direction to product project teams, resolve technical challenges, and document solutions.
* Mentor junior engineers in engineering processes and best practices.
What We're Looking For:
Education & Experience:
* BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng in Chemical, Process, or Bioprocess Engineering (or related discipline).
* Proven experience in designing, constructing, commissioning, and operating process plants.
* Expertise in hazard analysis processes and compliance with industry standards (API, ASTM, ASME).
Skills & Knowledge:
* Strong ability to create P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and mass/energy balances.
* Familiarity with control complexities and their impact on system design.
* Understanding of equipment, piping, control, and electrical/electronic systems design.
* Experience leading technical teams, either as a manager or project leader.
Attributes:
* Creative problem solver with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Experience in operational sites such as chemical, gas processing, pharmaceutical, or water industries.
