An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join a leading geotechnical consultancy with a strong reputation for excellence in ground technology. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering complex geotechnical design solutions for major infrastructure projects, including rail, highways, structures, and water. This role offers the flexibility of working from various office locations or hybrid within Ireland.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in geotechnical design.
* A Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
* Chartered status (CEng, MICE, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
* Proven experience in a fast-paced engineering consultancy environment.
* Strong numerical and analytical capabilities with experience in geotechnical design.
* Familiarity with Irish/UK glacial till soils is desirable but not essential.
* Experience in soft ground techniques, soil reinforcement, piling, and retaining walls is advantageous.
* Proficiency in design to Eurocode 7.
* Experience with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Holebase/Openground, Wallap, etc.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technical skills.
* Strong report writing skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Willingness to travel for short assignments within Ireland and overseas.
* Fluent in spoken and written English.
* A valid full clean driver's license.
Key Responsibilities:
* Project Management: Manage geotechnical aspects of projects from inception to completion.
* Geotechnical Design: Deliver design packages including earthworks, slope stability, shallow and deep foundations, and retaining walls.
* Ground Investigation: Plan and procure ground investigation contracts for major infrastructure and commercial projects.
* Specialist Support: Provide geotechnical design input to various multidisciplinary design teams.
* Eurocode Compliance: Design earthworks and foundations in compliance with Eurocode 7 standards.
* Documentation: Prepare reports, drawings, and calculations, including earthworks specifications, design drawings, and geotechnical risk registers.
* Pavement Foundation Design: Develop pavement foundation designs according to TII/UK DMRB standards.
* Ground Improvement: Design ground improvement techniques for soft ground, including surcharge, vertical drains, and piled embankments.
* Tender Preparation: Assist in the preparation of tender documents and specifications.
