LOGISTICS CO-ORDINATOR - FOOD PACKAGING
SWINDON
Salary: £20K - £30K based on experience + private health insurance + pension
Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 5pm
Our client is a well-established trusted name in packaging solutions with tailored solutions to meet the diverse needs of food packaging production worldwide. They are looking for a highly organised and customer-focused individual to join the team as a Logistics Co-ordinator within our warehouse operation. You will be responsible for managing the smooth and efficient flow of goods from suppliers to the site and then onto customers. The Logistics Co-ordinator plays a key role in maintaining relationships with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams while ensuring cost-effective and compliant logistics practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Transport Coordination: Organise and schedule shipments to ensure timely delivery of goods, both inbound and outbound, using various modes of transportation (road, air, sea, rail).
2. Supplier and Carrier Management: Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, and transport carriers to arrange and manage deliveries, negotiate rates, and ensure service level agreements are met.
3. Shipment Tracking: Track shipments, monitor progress, and communicate any delays or issues to relevant stakeholders, ensuring customer expectations are met.
4. Documentation: Prepare and maintain shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, ensuring all required paperwork is accurate and complete.
5. Customs Compliance: Ensure all international shipments comply with UK and international customs regulations, including accurate documentation and declaration of goods.
6. Cost Control: Monitor and control logistics costs, looking for opportunities to reduce transportation expenses.
7. Logistics Reporting: Prepare and maintain reports on key logistics metrics, such as shipping costs, delivery times, and supplier performance, and provide regular updates to management.
8. Driving FLT and Helping in the Warehouse: Assist with forklift operations and general warehouse duties as needed.
Skills:
1. Problem-Solving: Address and resolve logistical challenges, such as shipment delays, damaged goods, or transport disruptions, to ensure minimal impact on operations.
2. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all logistics activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
3. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams.
4. Organisational Skills: Strong time management and organisational abilities to manage multiple shipments and logistics tasks simultaneously.
5. Attention to Detail: High attention to detail for managing documentation, tracking shipments, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
6. Knowledge: Understanding of UK and international logistics regulations, including customs procedures and transport regulations.
7. Technical Proficiency: Experience with Sage 50 or similar order processing systems.
