The Emergency Duty Manager must demonstrate a good understanding of Children's Services day services roles and responsibilities such as Request for Support, Early Help, Multi Agency Partnership, Assessment, Family Safeguarding, Looked After Children, and Targeted Youth Support Services. They must ensure good knowledge of the services remit and their work.
The Manager must ensure that close working relationships are developed with peer colleagues across the county and ensure consistency at the decision-making level.
Ensure that social work case records, assessments, plans, and documentation for all children and young people for whom the emergency duty team is responsible are effectively maintained in line with practice standards and organisational policy and procedure.
Manage effective communication of practice, service, and organisational issues within the team and work collaboratively across other social work teams, services, and with partners to provide high-level integrated support to children and families.
Demonstrate good use of Tableau and monitor performance. Act as the Designated Complaints Officer and deal with stage one complaints in accordance with Departmental and Children Act criteria, working with partners and stakeholders to resolve service problems and identify ways to improve service and efficiency.
Responsible for the provision of safe Plans for children, for the delivery of an emergency service to families, ensuring children are safeguarded and, as far as possible, can remain living with their families in their local communities. This includes ensuring quality of reports, statements to court, and effective compliance by team members with the requirements of Working Together and department procedures and standards.
Work collaboratively with Adult Services EDT Manager. To be responsible for ensuring effective delivery of service through an adequately resourced team, using HR methods including workforce planning, recruitment, induction, training, retention, and succession planning of the team members.
Lead on building and maintaining excellent relationships with the Council’s strategic partners, developing highly integrated working practices, sharing best practice, and achieving economies of scale which, in turn, improve the outcomes for children. Ensure effective liaison with Adult and Mental Health services to ensure that children receive timely assessments.
