Stamford School has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Finance Apprentice to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial administration while working towards a professional qualification. As a Finance Apprentice, you will assist the Finance Team in the day-to-day financial operations of Stamford School. You will support key processes such as invoicing, budgeting, and financial reporting while learning best practices in financial management. This role offers practical exposure to the workings of a busy finance department and tailored mentorship to help you develop your skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Accounts Payable & Receivable: Assist in processing purchase and sales invoices, bank payments and receipts, ensuring timely and accurate data entry.
* Credit control: Work with the team to recover monies owed to the school pulling together a variety of data sets to efficiently bring accounts to balance.
* Reconciliation: Support the reconciliation of accounts and help identify and resolve discrepancies.
* Budget Management: Provide administrative support during budget preparation and assist with regular monitoring.
* Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, statements, and summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
* Record Keeping: Maintain organised and accurate financial records in compliance with school policies and regulations.
* Support Audits: Contribute to the annual external audit preparations by gathering necessary documentation.
* General Administration: Handle finance-related queries, liaise with suppliers, customers, and staff; perform other administrative duties as required.
* Any other duties commensurate with the role.

Desired Criteria
* Prior relevant finance experience; however, a keen interest in accounting or finance is essential.
* Knowledge in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Essential Criteria
* Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
* Must be willing to work towards a recognised accounting qualification, such as AAT.
* Attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
