Ø To ensure the highest standard of repairs are carried out to the manufacturers specification, specifically relating to the paint process

Specific tasks:
This job holder must be able to:
Ø Receive vehicle, job card & Quality Control (QC) forms from panel shop and check quality of repairs, taking remedial action if necessary
Ø Ensure that QC form has been completed by Technician who previously worked on vehicle and Senior Technician has countersigned when applicable
Ø Document any other vehicle problems noted during repairs and seek guidance from workshop controller/bodyshop estimator if necessary
Ø Ensure that vehicle internal car care kit fitted (seat covers, steering wheel cover and floor mat) to prevent dust transfer
Ø Complete by flat and polishing and visual checks
Ø Check final finish and colour match
Ø Ensure final check sheet and job card leave the department with the vehicle
Ø Ensures that customers and / or their vehicles are collected and / or delivered to their satisfaction and according to their instructions
Ø Plans travel safely and efficiently to make the best use of time and resources
Ø Drives in a safe manner complying with the speeds limits and other road regulations and in accordance with the condition of the vehicle
Ø Secures vehicle fully and considers personal customer and vehicle safety when dropping off/collecting customers and parking
Ø Promotes the professionalism of the Bodyshop through friendly, polite conversation.
Ø Ensure that any request made by a customer is relayed back to the Bodyshop Advisors
Ø Ensures vehicles are valeted to company standards before they are handed back to the workshop controller
Ø Carry out final checks on the vehicle after valet in line with quality control checklist attached to job card. Tick appropriate sections and sign off.
Ø Ensure final check sheet and job card leave the department with the vehicle
Ø Collects and delivers vehicles from dealership, traders and other third parties using the appropriate trade plates in accordance with instructions
Pay attention to the amount of fuel that is used in the vehicle and if using a demo car, needs to re-fuel to level the fuel gauge was originally at
Ø Takes care not to cause accidental damage to vehicle and components whilst in for repair or maintenance and cares for and properly uses all plant and tools belonging to the Bodyshop
Ø Minimises wastage of all materials, oil and fluids
Ø Ensures the maintenance of all the equipment such as the car wash and other materials used in the completion of the job and ensures they are carefully maintained and stored securely when not in use
Ø Cleans up spillages during working hours and sweeps and removes litter from the workshop or bodyshop floor and the car park
Ø Keeps work area neat and tidy
Ø Goes and collects parts if asked by management and will also complete any task asked by management
Ø Understands and complies with all the appropriate legislation relevant to the department including COSHH
Ø Compiles with health and safety legislation to ensure safety and well being of self, colleagues, customers and visitors
Ø Maintains personal awareness of the company’s quality procedures
Ø Participate fully in measurement and feedback processes, to complete and return personnel documentation on time and to embrace personal training and development opportunities
Ø Work to support other team members in achievement of their objectives when asked to do so or required by their manager.
Knowledge and skills required:
This job holder must have knowledge of:
Ø Automotive systems basic vehicle layout, function and location of parts)
Ø The quality control and inspection requirements of the Bodyshop department
Ø The tools to be used for appropriate operations, together with maintenance procedures and practices
Ø Protective clothing/footwear/masks to be worn for specific operations
Ø Safety procedures for all bodyshop equipment
Ø Manufacturers standards and objectives, retail facility and individuals objectives, both cultural and financial
Ø The company organisational structure
Ø Use of appropriate consumables, tools and machinery
Ø Valeting process and products in use
Ø Highway code
And be able to:
Ø Demonstrate a professional and enthusiastic attitude
Ø Remain positive in stressful situations and work both independently and as a team
Ø Record basic information
Ø Distinguish minor colour discrepancies and differences
Ø Identify any paint defects in the paint
Ø Maintain high levels of house keeping, mindful of cross contamination.
Ø Ensure that all health and safety /COSHH legislation and internal procedures are followed and environmental best practice is observed
Ø Ensure the maintenance and security of tools, equipment and other materials
Ø Pay attention to detail, ensuring vehicle is cleaned to bodyshop standards
Ø Work independently and as a team in a busy, active environment
Ø Deal with some physical work which will be carried out in a variety of weather conditions
Ø Converse in a polite friendly business manner
Ø Use a number of cleaning fluids and products
Ø Drive safely promoting customer confidence
