Come to Department for Transport (DfT) and grow your skills and experience across some of the biggest, most complex challenges in UK transport and infrastructure. We are looking to recruit an HR Business Partner to work with our Senior Leaders at DfT. This is a high-profile role where you will belong to a team of HRBPs whose primary function is to each partner one or more Director General (DG) and their Senior Leadership Teams. You will get to build relationships across the Groups that DGs lead, and work across the HR function to ensure they deliver against key business priorities.
This role would suit a strong HR generalist with experience of business partnering. You're comfortable working at a strategic level and have a breadth of HR experience in change-orientated environments. You take a proactive approach to work; displaying a high degree of grip, integrity, resilience and resourcefulness, and are happy to use your own initiative and take a hands-on approach to problem-solving and bringing constructive challenge.
Job Description:
Our HRBPs have exposure across the whole range of HR activity, while at the same time leading the people agenda for the Group they partner. Key responsibilities and objectives include:
1. Strategic resourcing and workforce planning
2. Building positive relationships with key senior stakeholders including DfT Director Generals (DGs) and their Senior Leadership Teams in undertaking business and workforce planning, ensuring effective deployment of people to achieve organizational priorities and deliver against key corporate initiatives.
3. Implementation and delivery of people strategies for Groups in a dynamic change environment
4. Providing strategic support to senior leaders and teams; using Organizational Design (OD) skills to inform the development and delivery of change initiatives across the department and within Group.
5. Building and developing skills and capability within Groups
6. Ensuring leaders understand and are fully engaged with talent identification and succession planning activities and processes at senior leadership level and below for critical posts.
7. Active leader across the HR function
8. Working across the HR function to ensure a proactive and joined-up approach on cross-cutting corporate issues. This covers a broad spectrum of activity from building capability and pipelines in new locations outside London through to feeding into policy development and then helping it land.

Person Specification:
You will need the following experience:
* Experience of building strong, effective relationships with people at senior levels to understand stakeholders' needs and priorities.
* Experience of taking senior leaders and their teams through organizational change with excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills and effective coaching of senior management to resolve people issues.
* Experience of handling complex casework - able to draw together the right experts to provide high-quality advice and support to managers on a variety of casework situations.
Additional Information:
A minimum of 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
Qualifications:
You will either hold your CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) qualification, or be willing to work towards this.
