JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY To provide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for the Peri-operative patient. To carry out all relevant forms of care competently without direct supervision. Communicate with members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care and promote effective team working. To assist with the teaching and supervision of learners and other staff. The jobholder will work within an environment caring for peri-operative patients within the oncology CSU.. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Clinical - Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust guidelines and policies - Maintain a clean, secure and safe working environment - Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of Peri-operative care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept - Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to - Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient - Acts in accordance with the professional code of conduct - Participate in the theatre on call rota, as required. - Undertake duties in other departments as and when required by service demands Education and Training - Keep up to date with developments, advances and research in individualised patient care and participate in research/educational programmes relating to professional issues - Contribute to the promotion of a positive learning environment within the clinical area - Assist in the training and education of learners and other staff - Actively participate in the development of own personal development plan and performance review - Participate in mandatory training annually Managerial - Participate in the coordination of departmental activities as required - Demonstrate prudent use of resources.
