Job Description
The Electronics Engineering Function at Leonardo in Newcastle requires a PCB Layout Engineer to join the current PCB Layout Team. Candidates should have experience in using PCB layout tools (preferably Siemens Xpedition), processes and industry standards. You will be required to provide innovative layout solutions for complex, multi-layer, digital, analog, and RF PCBs with multiple interfaces.
Responsibilities
1. Creating complex multi-layer PCBs with multiple design interfaces, which may include RF, digital, FPGA, power supply, and mixed-signal circuitry.
2. An ability to read schematics and design PCBs in accordance with the design intent.
3. Familiarity with high pin count parts, high-speed signal routing, differential pairs, and standard interfaces, such as SMA, SMP, and USB.
4. Validating design data to ensure compliance with supplier capability.
5. Creating manufacturing output data packs, to company standards.
6. Participating in project meetings and providing advice to electronic engineers relating to design rules for PCB tools, materials, and substrate technology.
7. Liaising with external suppliers, PCB Assembly houses, and PCB Fabricators.
Requirements
Candidates should have an HNC/HND or degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, supported by relevant industry experience and a specialisation in PCB design. Candidates should be familiar with current industry-standard ECAD tools used for PCB design and layout. It is desirable that you have experience with Siemens Xpedition, although toolset training will be provided.
