Temporary Data Governance Officer

Pay Rate: £15.48 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6-7 months
City: Sheffield

NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 5 years continuous UK address history. Please note that this vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure.
The role will support data owners to share lawfully with partners for law enforcement purposes, support data owners to draft contracts with third party data processors, support with data access agreements, support data owners in completing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) - making initial assessments and providing relevant advice, play an active role as DP representative on new processing activities and drive data protection by design and default.
Key Responsibilities:
Force SPOC for data sharing, processing contracts, data access agreements, DPIAs, new processing (new projects and systems).
Provide professional advice to Data Owners.
Improve processes and systems for data sharing, DPIA and embed data protection by design.
Develop and maintain appropriate tools/technical solutions/templates.
Monitor compliance.
Provide reporting and statistics.
Develop Policy, Procedural Instruction and Communications.
Ability to effectively deliver training.
Understands structure of the police and partners.
Attend local and national groups.
Negotiate with partners and third parties, reviewing and agreeing.
Maintain a compliance database and documentation.
Update intranet and publish relevant documentation.

Qualifications:
Diploma Level Data Protection Qualification or equivalent expert experience in Data Protection Law (DPA 2018, GDPR, LED).
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Sound understanding of Human Rights Act 1998, Freedom of Information Act 200, Information Security and Governance.
Excellent Communication and Negotiation Skills.
Ability to effectively write legal documents, using appropriate language and grammar.
Expert knowledge and experience of managing risk
Experience of delivering training.
Able to meet high standards.
Work collaboratively and clarify any misconceptions about data protection and sharing.
Ability to travel to any location within South Yorkshire and to national meetings as appropriate.
Must be IT literate and have good keyboard skills in order to operate relevant computer packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to provide an efficient service.
