Job overview
THIS POST WILL NOT COMMENCE UNTIL APRIL 2025
To undertake all duties relating to the food service within the Restaurant and the main patient washup. To provide a safe catering service to patients, staff, and visitors, to include preparation and service of food and beverages, washing-up, and cleaning of equipment and work areas to the specified standard.
Main duties of the job
1. Setting up and cleaning the Restaurant, operation of tills and associated areas, and service of meals.
2. Preparing sandwiches and salads to a high standard for resale within the Trust's Restaurant.
3. Operation of the patient’s meal service, supporting the portioning of meals for patient and satellite units.
4. Working on industrial wash-up machines.
The hours of work for this post are anytime from 07.30am until 4.30pm any 5 days from 7 days per week, including a 30-minute unpaid break. This may on occasions include working weekends or working some later shifts.
Person specification
* Basic Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to work towards.
* Evidence of high personal standards.
* Experience in working within catering services, preferably in a large-scale catering department.
Skills
* Able to complete simple records.
* Able to operate machinery after training.
* Capable of working without direct supervision.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety, manual handling, COSHH.
* Awareness of the dignity in care agenda.
* Good customer care skills.
* Experience in using catering equipment.
* Knowledge of food service including dietary requirements and portion control.
Specific Requirements
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet the demands of the service.
* Able to work in high and low temperature areas.
