Main duties of the job
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Nurse who wants to work in a supportive environment where care of the patients comes first.
You will manage a team of Registered nurses and Healthcare assistants ensuring the effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of high standards of holistic care for an identified group of service users.
You will be involved in the recruitment, induction, development, supervision, appraisal and discipline of staff at the service.
Rota management including the provision of out of hours services.
Managing and assessing risk.
Auditing and monitoring quality standards.
Deputising in the absence of the Head of Clinical Services/Ward Manager.

* The successful applicant will play an active role within our team. Sue Ryder prides itself on giving our patients the best possible quality of life by providing a holistic and individualised service.
* Our ideal candidate will have significant experience of working in a leadership role within Palliative and End of Life Care. They will be able to evidence additional, role specific qualifications and professional development and can offer support, leadership and mentorship to junior members of staff and the nursing team.
* Proven skills in leading, building and influencing in a clinical setting.
* Knowledge of current legislation within independent care sector.
* Demonstrable experience of practicing in a self-directed and highly motivated way.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to communicate difficult messages to service users and their families.
* Negotiation and conflict management skills.
* Able to effectively manage change and manage performance.
