This role will be supporting the Medicine Group, which is the largest clinical group at UHCW. The successful candidate will therefore be involved with a variety of specialties, giving the potential to add a real breadth to their NHS experience.
The Deputy Head of Group Finance will be an integrated vital member of the clinical groups and will participate fully in the agenda for both financial and non-financial performance and arising issues.
The Deputy Head of Group Finance will support the Senior Head of Group Finance in providing high-quality financial management advice. This will involve acting as a lead finance link for several Specialty Groups/Directorates, advising on all technical financial issues.
They will take responsibility for staff development and performance for the staff in the Financial Management Team that they lead.
They will support the regular reporting of financial performance management information to the groups that they support and to the relevant Trust Committee’s/Board as part of the Integrated Finance Report.
The post will ensure that information provision and outputs associated with Service Line Reporting/Patient Level Costing and reference costs are analysed and communicated to the Specialty Groups/Directorates.
They will deputise for the Senior Head of Group Finance as and when appropriate.
They will be required to make decisions within their own interpretation and understanding of national policies and professional standards.
Support the financial performance of Groups against agreed financial targets, using the most appropriate means available. To support the financial strategy of the Operational Delivery Planning process within the groups, including the integration of activity, capacity, workforce, income, and expenditure for the group.
Take the lead for budget setting for the Specialty Groups/Directorates, in line with agreed Trust policies and ensuring the involvement of Executive Directors, Clinical Directors, General Managers, and other key Specialty Managers.
Provide advice and support to group management teams including identifying and quantifying Service Developments, Cost Pressures, Waste Reduction Programme, Cash Releasing Efficiency Savings, and Capital Bids to support the annual objectives.
