• To provide professional and clinical leadership as the Professional Service Lead.
• To support the Head of Operations with the overall responsibility for Imaging.
• To provide professional, clinical, and managerial leadership for workforce and development for the Imaging Service.
• To be accountable for service delivery of the Cross Sectional and Advanced Practice
• To advise on operational, performance, professional and development for the service.
• To support the development of the Quality Strategy in Imaging including progress towards Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) accreditation.
• To lead and support the development of a highly skilled and responsive workforce.
• To support and make a professional contribution to the strategic management to achieve a high-quality service offering best value for money, including active participation in the waste reduction programme.
• To be responsible for the efficient and effective management of resources ensuring continuous development and delivery of a high-quality patient focused service.

• To work with Clinical Diagnostics Group Triumvirate and Senior Imaging Management team to promote Imaging and Clinical Diagnostics Service and resolve policy and service issues.
• To lead in the strategic development of service on behalf of the Trust within the local healthcare economy.
• To advise on the provision of Cross Sectional and Advanced Practice within the wider health economy at the appropriate Board level.
• To participate in and represent the Imaging Service and Clinical Diagnostic Service in quarterly performance reviews (when requested).

Key Result Areas and Performance
Departmental
• To ensure the optimal delivery of the services of UHCW NHS Trust within allocated resources.
• To manage and be responsible for allocated budgets for the service.
• To prepare and implement a strategic plan for the Imaging Service in line with the Trust objectives and NHS plan.
• To design and implement an appropriate structure for the service to support the NHS objective of the provision of service over 7 days.
• To lead in the Management of Change process.
• To lead on the further development and monitoring of service performance measures ensuring that the service is aligned to the corporate goal.
• To be responsible for supporting and overseeing the high data quality standards by ensuring that the data entered on Trust systems is accurate, complete, and up to date and provide written and verbal reports as required.
• To support and cover the work of managerial colleagues during periods of absence and peak workload.
• To ensure that the service is provided to the wider hospital, Integrated Care Boards, and independent sector partners, aiming to ensure that all patient needs are met.
Managerial
• To provide managerial leadership across the area of responsibility ensuring that the service functions as a team across all modalities.
• To provide, present, establish and maintain highly complex and specialist knowledge and on occasions have an awareness and act appropriately to highly sensitive and/ or contentious information.
• To lead effective performance reviews and set objectives ensuring that training and development needs are linked to the service strategy, and training plan.
• Responsible for proposing, implementing service and departmental policies, implementation, and service development for the Units. This will be done by operating independently whilst interpreting the Trusts policies.
• To develop as necessary clinical guidelines, protocols and appropriate referral criteria in consultation with Clinical Leads, for use within the Trust and local health economy.
• To promote evidence based and clinical practice within the department.
• To ensure all Trust policies and procedures are adhered to and make recommendations on their amendment as appropriate.
• To investigate all complaints involving the service, prepare reports and action plans in line with Trust guidelines and in collaboration with the Patient Safety Team.
• To ensure systems are in place for the collection of patient related activity and clinical information.
• To prepare robust business cases as part of the Imaging strategic planning process in alignment with Trust ODP output and governance processes.
• To manipulate, interpret and analyse complex data, information and situational scenarios in daily activities.
Communication
• To communicate service-related information to senior management, staff and external agencies, including imaging networks, system wide health agencies, GPs, partners. This will require negotiation, persuasion, motivational and reassurance skills.
• To ensure an effective communication system is in place for all staff working in the department.
• To demonstrate persuasive, motivational, negotiating, training, empathic and reassurance skills as required.
• To develop and maintain effective communication and good working relationships with Heads of Service within the Clinical Diagnostic Service Group, the Head of Operations, Group Director of Operations, Senior Managers and Clinical Directors.
• To develop excellent links with GPs, partners, system wide health agencies and established networks.
Professional
• To ensure professional leadership and development is current and visible in the workplace.
• To ensure continuous development of a quality service by the implementation of robust governance and audit programmes.
• To provide advice on current and future workforce planning.
• To work in partnership on professional matters with other NHS organisations both locally, regionally and nationally.
• To work with the Group Triumvirate and Head of Imaging to develop appropriate models of care with appropriate professional Diagnostics and Interventional imaging advice.
• To maintain professional links with peers in other health economies.
