Job summary We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a permanent, Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to the Neonatal Unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. This post will primarily be based on the Unit, but hosted by the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Paediatric Psychology Service and well supported by the professional leadership structures in this thriving team of Psychologists. The post will also benefit from the supportive structure of the Neonatal Network Community of Practice. The Paediatric Psychology Service provides targeted input into several multi-disciplinary teams across Shropshire and works closely with the children's community nursing team. We are a welcoming, well-established team, with a shared passion for continuously improving the service we provide and promoting positive outcomes for babies, children/young people with physical health conditions. The post holder will work closely alongside the Band 8a Clinical Psychologist on the Unit. The role will involve working with families and staff on the Unit, becoming embedded into this passionate team of varied Medical and Allied Health professionals. There will be regular opportunities for CPD, neonatal and paediatric peer supervision and collaborating with psychology colleagues within the Neonatal Network and Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin's Integrated Care System. Main duties of the job The main duty of this role involves providing evidence-based, psychological interventions for babies and their families on the unit, aimed at reducing distress and promoting positive health and wellbeing outcomes for babies on the neonatal unit and their families. The role will also involve working indirectly with colleagues, sharing psychological skills and approaches and promoting psychologically informed care, through integrated, multi-disciplinary team working. There will be scope to contribute to service audit, evaluation and development projects as a part of this role. The successful applicant will be a compassionate and committed team player, with previous experience of working with children and families and a strong passion for making a positive difference to the lives of babies, children and families in this setting. Skills in making psychological theory and approaches accessible to colleagues in other disciplines will be key to this role.
