Please see below a vacancy that we have been asked to publish and promote on behalf of North London Cricket Club...
ABOUT NORTH LONDON CC
North London CC was founded in 1877 and is one of the largest amateur cricket clubs in Middlesex. We are an ambitious club with over 225 junior playing members and more than 100 senior cricketers.
Our beautiful home grounds are located in Crouch End, London N8, and are ideally situated as the closest cricket grounds to the City of London when heading northerly. Access is easily available via the Northern Line. We have recently made significant investments in our grounds and facilities, with the addition of a modern 4-lane outdoor net facility. Further improvements are planned.
Our senior men’s first team is an established Division 1 Middlesex County Cricket League team that has challenged for promotion to the ECB Middlesex Premier League in each of the past three seasons. All of our other four senior men’s teams compete at a similar level for their grade. Our aim is to achieve promotion to the MCCL Premier League and for that level of cricket to be sustainable for the long term through the organic development of homegrown cricketers.
Our Senior Women have two teams competing in league cricket, and this season, we started a women’s 3rd XI team that plays midweek cricket.
We have both boys and girls playing junior representative cricket at regional, county, and national level. The continued development of our junior cricketers to pathway cricket is considered to be fundamentally important to this role, as is the development of current and future NLCC senior cricketers.
NORTH LONDON CC AIMS AND AMBITIONS
Our aim is to establish NLCC as a MCCL Premier League club and have our women play league cricket at the highest possible level. We aim to achieve this organically through the development of our young cricketers while attracting female and male cricketers of all ages to play for our socially vibrant and ambitious club. We see this as a sustainable model for the long-term of our club and its members.
In recent years, we have worked with ambitious coaches who assisted in establishing the NLCC Junior Academy. We now have junior boys and girls from ages 10 to 17 playing representative cricket for Middlesex, Surrey, London Schools, and England. The new Director of Coaching will expand our academy to produce more cricketers for our women’s and men’s senior teams and representative teams.

Key Responsibilities...
November to March (Winter Season):
* Lead junior group coaching sessions on Saturday afternoons.
* Oversee and coach our junior Academy sessions 2-3 evenings per week.
* Typically, this will involve around 9 hours of coaching per week.
A primary focus will be identifying talent in young cricketers and creating programs to develop them into high-performing senior players.
April to July (Spring/Summer Term):
* Manage and lead junior coaching sessions on Sunday mornings and Monday and Friday evenings, amounting to 10-11 hours of coaching per week.
* Develop and implement tailored training programs to foster skill development and team cohesion.
April to September (Summer Season):
* Lead senior men’s and women’s training sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, requiring 6-9 hours per week.
* Design and maintain a dynamic training regime to enhance the fitness and performance of our senior teams, with a particular focus on preparing for Premier League cricket.
Key Attributes...
* High-level cricket experience: The ideal candidate will have played or is still playing Premier-level cricket, bringing the expertise needed to mentor and inspire our senior teams and maintain a dynamic and engaging training regime.
* Leadership and management skills: Manage and support the existing team of qualified Level 2 and volunteer coaches, encouraging their development and ensuring smooth coordination.
* Talent identification and player development: Identify talent and create a pathway for junior cricketers to transition into senior roles, ensuring continuity and growth within the club.
* Strong administrative skills: Organise coaching schedules, communicate effectively with coaching staff, and ensure that training programs are well-executed with the support of the club’s administrative team.
We are looking for a leader who is not only technically proficient but also passionate about developing cricketers of all ages and abilities. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to make a significant impact on the future of our club.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* ECB Level 3 qualified coach (or equivalent). We are also open to considering an experienced and ambitious ECB Level 2 coach who is committed to attaining Level 3 status in the near future.
* Proven experience in leading both group and individual coaching sessions, ideally within a club or school environment. Relevant management experience in overseeing coaching programs and mentoring other coaches.
* Self-motivated and ambitious, aligning with NLCC’s ethos of developing young cricketers organically while preparing senior players to perform at the highest level possible.
* Excellent communication and management skills, with the ability to inspire, organise, and collaborate with coaches and players alike.
* A strong work ethic and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Ability to work effectively within a team, including collaborating with junior coordinators, senior captains, selectors, and the NLCC executive committee.
REMUNERATION
We are able to offer a very attractive remuneration package, which will depend upon ability, relevant experience, and availability to commit to all aspects of the role as outlined above. We will pay a basic monthly retainer, which can be supplemented through a plentiful supply of private one-to-one coaching and potential involvement in our regular and well-established cricket camps.
AVAILABILITY
This role is immediately available to the right candidate, with our winter junior program about to commence in November. Nevertheless, our aim is to make an appointment for the long-term benefit of our members and NLCC, and we will therefore consider applicants who will be available from April 2025.
