Individuals in prison experience considerable health inequalities. In light of the growing prison population, the rising number of older prisons and longer prison sentences, the demand on adult support services is increasing.
We are therefore looking for 2 enthusiastic and highly motivated Community Care Officers(CCO’s) who would like to make a difference to the lives of adults aged 18 and over who are detained within one of three Nottinghamshire Prisons (Whatton, Ranby and Lowdham) and approved premises.
This specialist role adopts a strength-based approach to fulfilling our statutory obligations under The Care Act 2014 by linking and working directly with the prisons and approved premises to establish a principle of equivalent care to individuals, whether that be whilst still in prison, moving on into the community or another authority.
As a CCO within the team you will have a good understanding of the relevant legal frameworks and the promotion of human rights.
Experience of working with individuals with multi-disadvantage is essential as is a good understanding of reablement and risk assessment/risk management. You will also need good communication skills and be able to work with people, family/carers, health colleagues and other key partners.
You will be required to complete His Majesties Prison & Probation Service vetting alongside an enhanced DBS. As this role is countywide, you will be required to drive and have access to a vehicle.
