Job Description
HT/ DHT 6 - £73,110
Permanent
Full Time
This is an exciting opportunity for a creative problem-solver and an exceptional, inspiring and experienced individual.
Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 31 primary schools and 3 standalone Early Learning and Childcare settings. Our special school, Saltersgate, and special provisions in each locality provide support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 50 children to our largest secondary with approximately 1,600 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings.
St. Andrew's RC Primary School is a denominational, co-educational school situated within the Gorebridge area. It is a seven-class school and includes a small complex needs provision. It has an Early Learning and Childcare setting with spaces for 32 pupils aged 3-5 receiving 1140 hours of ELC over a session.
St Andrew's Primary School is a Catholic school at the heart of the ever-expanding community of Gorebridge. The Vision, Values and Aims are fully embedded in the Catholic Faith, and are built around the key characteristics of the Catholic Charter - giving a consistent message of high aspirations for all learners and clear expectations for positive behaviour, respect and tolerance. The school provides a safe, caring and inclusive environment where every child is valued as an individual and diversity is celebrated. It is important that individual talents and interests are promoted and opportunities are provided both within and out-with school to support and extend skills for life, learning and work.
The school is committed to building effective partnerships with parents/carers, the parish and the wider community so that together everyone can share the important task of preparing the children for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
There is an active Parent Council, who contribute effectively to the running of the school, both in relation to policy and curriculum development, as well as organising social events and fund raising activities. Strong links with the Parish are reflected in parishioner's involvement in school Masses and other events, along with their support of pupils during the preparation and celebration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
The school works closely with St. David's RC High School and the other feeder primaries, to promote social and educational inclusion and to provide a supportive and healthy environment for pupils and staff.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic professionals who have the vision and energy to sustain and promote the current standards of achievement and ensure the continued development and progress of the school.
Applicants must seek Catholic Church approval when submitting their application for this post. Forms can be obtained at www.sces.uk.com/approval.html
