Playing a key role within Forward Thinking Birmingham, we require Mental Health Nurses and Social Workers to work within our Referral Management Centre. You will ensure that high quality, clinically necessary care is being provided in the most appropriate and cost-effective therapeutic setting as part of Forward Thinking Birmingham’s mental healthcare model (FTB).
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a highly skilled Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to take on a pivotal role within our triage team. This dynamic position involves providing expert clinical oversight to junior staff, conducting audits to validate and improve service standards, and optimizing patient flow through the service. As a leader, you will facilitate both managerial and clinical supervision sessions, contribute to the development of staff by designing and delivering training that meets service needs, and offer specialist guidance to the clinical team. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with services within FTB to address challenges, and ensuring the service aligns with the latest clinical guidelines. Education & Qualifications
* Willingness to undertake further training as required.
* Post registration training in a treatment modality to diploma/degree standard as a minimum such as CBT.
* Management/Leadership Training
* Degree in relevant subject
* Training in Research
Previous Experience
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of research.
* Experience of working in a home treatment team, day hospital or outreach service.
* Experience of leading and managing a team.
Skills & Knowledge
* Knowledge of relevant legislation.
* Advanced knowledge of treatment techniques and interventions in FTB.
* Flexible, enthusiastic, innovative and self-confident.
* Able to work as part of a team and to lead others.
* Skilled in working with other agencies including the voluntary sector.
* Knowledge of Child Protection Procedures, adult safeguarding, and vulnerable young adults.
* Previous experience of supervising junior staff.

Our current Mental Health Services division may be transferring the provision of its services to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT). Whilst at present you are applying for a position within Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation should you be successful in gaining a position within Mental Health Services, your employment may in the future be transferred over to BSMHFT. Should any new information become available, you will be kept informed of this throughout your recruitment process.
