Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse in the Medical Same Day Emergency Care (MSDEC) based in Worcester Royal Hospital. The MSDEC Department is a fast paced busy area with a growing number of patients coming in and being discharged within the same working day. You will look after acutely unwell adults with a variety of presentations and facilitate rapid assessment, treatment and care provision in an aim to stop them being admitted into the main hospital system. Our patients are referred via their GP, Out of Hours, WMAS or from the Emergency Department. The right individual for the role would be self-motivated, competent and pro-active with an ability to manage multiple patients at once and delegate where necessary. You will be a role model and have a clear interest in delivering high quality care ensuring staff and patients needs are met, whilst ensuring flow through the department. The right candidate will need at least 2 years experience within urgent care and be a contributing member to our vision and same day emergency care ethos. Working hours are 07:30 20:00 & 09:30 22:00 7 days a week including bank holidays. Main duties of the job As a band 6 nurse you will coordinate the busy medical SDEC department on a day to day basis. This involves the management of the flow of patients within the Same Day Emergency Care ensuring assessments and investigations are delivered in a timely manner. You will hold shift responsibility for the environment and the MDT team ensuring high quality care is delivered at every step. Provide strong leadership and direction for the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice to support the running of the unit. To support the development and implementation of audit, quality and risk management initiatives.
