About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join our purchasing team, reporting to the Purchasing Manager. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services to support our operations, optimising supply chain efficiency, covering both direct and indirect procurement.
Working closely with operations, logistics and finance, this role is responsible from requisition to delivery of parts or services to the end user. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in purchasing and the ability to work as an integral part of a team. This position is based at our Witham engineering facility.

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Ensure all goods and services are procured through the TECNIQ purchase order process.
2. Manage end to end delivery from requisition through to delivery of goods and services, ensuring effective communication and progress updates with internal stakeholders.
3. Liaise with internal functions to plan orders for stock and ensure that orders are placed with suppliers in a timely manner following the agreed ordering process.
4. Liaise with logistics regarding deliveries and collections, ensuring that purchase orders, expected delivery dates, recipient details and any supporting documentation is provided and communicated.
5. Ensure suppliers provide order confirmations within the required timescales and that delivery information is in accordance with production requirements.
6. Report potential issues with deliveries that may cause disruption to the requestor and authoriser.
7. Liaise with the quality department to ensure quality issues are recorded correctly and are resolved with suppliers.
8. Arrange shipment to suppliers, shipment of inbound goods and importation.
9. Process data transfers at the point of ordering from suppliers.
10. Seek cost savings and delivery improvements without compromising quality or service from suppliers.
11. Consolidate purchases to a smaller number of suppliers to increase leverage and facilitate better supply chain relationships.
12. Maintain accurate record of purchase orders placed and ensure purchase orders are available to be matched with delivery notes and invoices. Maintain accurate pricing records and support the finance team regarding invoice queries, month and year end processes.
13. Work with the Purchasing Manager transforming manual purchasing processes, improving efficiencies and communication, migrating towards automation.
14. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
15. Provision of purchasing and administrative support to ADP Classic Racing.
Skills and Experience Required
1. Experience in purchasing in automotive, aerospace, or complex manufacturing industries would be beneficial.
2. Experience in procurement of production and non-production goods and services, including raw materials.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
4. Ability to build relationships among colleagues and external stakeholders.
5. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure, prioritising tasks as required.
6. Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
7. Leadership skills and confidence to stand in for Purchasing Manager as and when required.
8. Proven experience in transforming manual processes, improving efficiencies and migration to automated systems.
9. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software (eg. SAP, Oracle).
