An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Christie Pathology Partnership (CPP) for a Support Secretary to join our Histopathology department.
We are looking for a keen, enthusiastic individual with an interest in developing administrative services to help us continue to deliver exceptional, high-quality integrated care to our patients. The Christie Pathology Partnership (CPP) is an excellent place to train and develop new skills, and further study will be supported.
Who We Are
CPP was formed in 2014 and is a joint venture between The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and SYNLAB, the largest provider of laboratory pathology and diagnostic services in Europe. We provide Pathology services for The Christie, which is the largest single cancer centre site in Europe and the first UK centre to be accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre. The Christie treats more than 60,000 patients a year.
SYNLAB is the European leader in delivery of high-quality pathology testing and imaging services and operates in 36 countries across four continents, employing more than 20,000 members of staff and conducting approximately 500 million tests per annum.
SYNLAB in the UK is a trusted expert in clinical laboratory services, drug and alcohol testing, and food testing. We provide a wide range of testing capabilities and advanced pathology services through to the most innovative molecular and genetic diagnostic tests available today.
Support Secretary – Histology
This is an excellent opportunity for a Support Secretary to continue their professional development at one of the largest cancer centres in Europe.
Essentially, the role is to provide clerical support to the Histopathology team comprising of Clinical Histopathologists and laboratory personnel, ensuring that a high standard of service is maintained to meet the needs of the patient and those of the department.
To keep accurate, up-to-date patient records using manual and electronic systems: TDHC – Histology database, CareFlow, CWP etc., which involves data entry and maintenance of various databases. Other administrative duties include covering workload during absences, filing of paperwork, blocks and slides, and dealing with multi-disciplinary meetings.
A level III clerical/secretarial certificate (e.g., RSA, NVQ) or equivalent is required. Previous clerical/secretarial experience is also essential. AMSPAR certification would be advantageous.
