Position: NPI Engineer (New Product Introduction) Location: Royston, Hertfordshire Salary: up to £40K plus benefits package - 37.5 hours per week Industry: Aerospace & Energy PRS Engineering have engaged with a new client and an FTSE listed International Aerospace Manufacturer. Opportunity based in Hertfordshire; we are seeking a NPI Engineer on a permanent basis. This part of the business specialises in precision machined components, assemblies and emerging markets. NPI Engineer - What does the job involve? As an NPI Engineer you will work within an established NPI team to manage the process of the introduction of new products into the business. You will utilise a structured, gated process to manage projects through concept, costing, design, and development, culminating in product launch and serial manufacture. A successful candidate will have experience in manufacturing Engineering and new product introduction, as well as strong communication and technical skills. The ability to be able to communicate clearly within a group environment is essential, as is enthusiasm, cooperation and a positive outlook. This multi-disciplined role requires the ability to engage internal and external resources to deliver projects on time, on cost and on quality. Responsibilities • Managing NPI projects in line with the APQP based internal procedure from the quotation stage to production handover • Monitoring projects accurately for QDC (Quality, Delivery, Cost), keeping track of key project performance analytics and reporting this internally as required • Setting up new parts in the ERP system, including BOM’s and routing, in line with the costing estimation • Co-ordinate and carry out PPAP related activity, including risk registers, pFMEA’s, process flow documents and MSA • Carrying out engineering evaluation of work packages based on associated drawings, process specifications and CAD data provided by the customer, in order to produce a detailed and accurate quotation • Preparing and delivering gate review presentations to senior management and key stakeholders • Liaising with relevant internal and external parties to compile accurate data and feedback on manufacturability, required process and inspection steps, material needs and corresponding (NC/NRC) cost estimations • Assist the tooling engineer/external tool makers in the definition of required tooling Key skills and experience required • Degree, HND, HNC, Advanced Diploma qualified • Min. of 2 years’ experience in an engineering role, preferably in an Aerospace related environment • Able to interpret and apply engineering, quality and H&S standards and specifications • Self-motivated, organised with excellent time management skills • Strong ‘team player’, utilising all available resources to get the best result. • Engineering/manufacturing focused with a commercial awareness • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) • Excellent interpersonal skills • Computer literate including MS Office (MS Project is also desirable) • Working knowledge of MRP systems, preferably Syspro • CAD experience (preference Solidworks) Some of the employee package you can expect if you are successful are: • Excellent pension and life assurance scheme • Free on-site car parking • Career and development opportunities • 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) • Health cash plan scheme • Health & wellbeing services • Employee discount scheme • Profit sharing scheme • Reward and recognition
