Commercial Manager - PFI Specialism
The provision and management of the company's commercial support to our portfolio of Projects and as appointed on any commission under the direction of the Commercial Director. The role may include, amongst a wider range of activities, providing support to operational projects on disputes, managing variations, advising on commercial matters, supporting General Managers as appropriate and managing service provider replacement/market testing. Support the Commercial Director in the development, planning and implementation of their business strategies and objectives. Actively contribute to the development of the company and its Client relationships, people, performance, success, and reputation.
Responsibilities
1. Provide commercial support and advice to the SPV management teams and Project Boards to minimize risk/liabilities;
2. Support the Commercial Consultancy Director, other Commercial Managers and Technical Consultancy Director in the facilitation of best practice in benchmarking and market testing services;
3. Support the Commercial Director in the management of the commercial team projects tracker and keeping the information contained therein up to date;
4. Provide commercial advice and support to operational projects, specifically to deal with matters of contractual dispute and compliance, taking a proactive commercial approach;
5. Manage the contractual and transition arrangements relating to the replacement of FM Service Providers;
6. Take management lead on administration of commercial billing on commercial projects as directed by the Commercial Director (tracking and reconciling activities for time charge invoicing);
7. Support the Commercial Consultancy Director on all administration of commercial proposals for new speculative commercial consultancy projects as directed by the Commercial Consultancy Director;
8. Liaise with General Managers to ensure shared knowledge and best practice, so that adequate policies and procedures are in place, to ensure that the contractual and commercial obligations of the subcontractors/suppliers are met, including against the PA.
Skills Required
1. Proven experience working with complex Project Agreements in PFI projects in a complex education and/or healthcare setting or similar complex environment;
2. Good general understanding of the funding and contractual structure of PFI projects;
3. Successfully managing relationships with stakeholders such as Project Company Boards, funders/lenders, sub-contractors, and the procuring Authorities at a senior level;
4. Management of performance monitoring regimes both Hard and Soft FM;
5. Good presentational and communication skills;
6. Strong intellect and desire to succeed. Focused on delivery and success;
7. Strong commercial edge but with a sensitivity to client needs and requirements;
8. Highly effective and inclusive manager who can get teams to collaborate in a commercially optimal fashion.
