Senior Social Worker - Family Team - West Yorkshire
Location: West Yorkshire
Hourly rate: £42.00 - £45.00 (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time
Contract: Temporary
Belmont Recruitment are currently working with a highly regarded local authority in West Yorkshire who are looking to appoint a committed and experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Family Team. This is a brilliant opportunity to step into a leadership role within a supportive, child-focused service that's dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for families across the region.
As a Senior Social Worker, you'll take responsibility for complex and high-risk cases, provide support and guidance to junior team members, and play a key role in driving service quality across the team. You'll work in a multi-agency environment to help families navigate challenging circumstances, with a strong focus on safeguarding, early intervention, and long-term stability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Hold and manage a caseload of complex child protection, child in need, and looked-after children cases
2. Complete high-quality assessments, care plans, and interventions in line with statutory responsibilities
3. Provide mentoring, supervision, and practice guidance to newly qualified and less experienced social workers
4. Chair multi-agency meetings and contribute to court proceedings, where necessary
5. Champion best practice and lead by example within the team, supporting continuous improvement
6. Build effective working relationships with children, families, and external agencies
7. Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
8. Promote the voice of the child and ensure all work is inclusive, respectful, and strength-based
Requirements:
1. Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England
2. Significant post-qualifying experience in children and families social work
3. Strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks, care planning, and relevant legislation
4. Proven ability to manage complex cases and support others through supervision or informal mentoring
5. Excellent communication and organisational skills
6. Commitment to reflective practice, development, and high-quality service delivery
7. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is highly desirable
