Senior Midwife - Delivery Suite Coordinator
The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for you to join our Maternity Departments as a Delivery Suite Coordinator. This is a pivotal role within our service providing inspirational leadership of the delivery suite team and excellence in clinical skills. Successful applicants would be required to work on both City sites at Leeds General Infirmary and St James Hospital on a rotational basis.

Main Duties of the Job
The post holder provides coordination and clinical guidance for midwives, midwifery students, and other members of the multidisciplinary team within the delivery suite, ward areas, and other outside agencies i.e. GPs and community midwifery services.
He/She facilitates an environment that cultivates and supports evidence-based care and is responsible for supervision, education, and professional development of staff and students.
The post holder will assist in the effective management of the ward budget. This includes monitoring and controlling revenue and expenditure so that budget limits are not exceeded, thus contributing to effective use of resources.

Senior Midwife (Delivery Suite Coordinator)

Location: Clarendon Wing or Gledhow Wing
Job Purpose/Summary:
The post holder is an expert clinical practitioner of midwifery. S/he coordinates and manages the day-to-day activities for the delivery suite, obstetric theatres, obstetric high dependency unit (HDU), allocating the team in accordance with capabilities and workload. The post holder is responsible for the unit out of hours and at weekends whilst on duty. S/he provides management and professional leadership.
The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, and the setting of standards of care.
The post holder provides clinical guidance and support for other members of the multidisciplinary team within the delivery suite, ward areas, and other outside agencies i.e. GPs and community midwifery services.
He/She facilitates an environment that cultivates the concepts of evidence-based care and is responsible for supervision, education, and professional development of staff and students.
The post holder will assist in the effective management of the ward budget. This includes monitoring and controlling revenue and expenditure so that budget limits are not exceeded, thus contributing to effective use of resources.
This post will involve direct liaison with the delivery suite based at our sister site, across the city.

Experience
* Experience of managing and leading a team

* Current issues in midwifery
* ALSO course (or equivalent)
* High dependency in obstetrics course (or equivalent)
* Neonatal examination of the newborn course
Qualifications
* Degree in Midwifery or equivalent
* NMC Registered Midwife
* Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
Skills & Behaviours
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Willing to undergo training as necessary
* Capable of lateral thinking
Additional Requirements
* Excellent written and verbal skills
* Ability to organise and prioritise own and others workload
