This pivotal role involves closely monitoring our complex contractual agreements and service contract to ensure alignment with strategic goals and managing our relationship with our client. In this role, you'll have a unique cross-functional oversight, enabling you to identify and address key strategic issues that impact the overall business plan. You’ll establish and manage robust tracking processes to prevent non-compliance. You will ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, balancing the need for transparency with the protection of our commercial interests where applicable. This is a critical opportunity to influence and drive compliance excellence across the organisation. Key responsibilities: This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include: Lead Northern's relationship with Rail North Partnership, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations to avoid any breaches and maintain robust business-wide adherence. Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, delivering excellent customer service and account management to Rail North Partnership and wider stakeholders. Oversee Freedom of Information processes, providing sign-off on responses and liaising with the Information Commissioner's Office when needed. Guide discussions on service contract renewal / development, ensuring Directors and internal teams understand resource needs for evaluating and responding to requirements. Lead compliance monitoring, identifying risks and revenue opportunities, while managing the Compliance Managers and Information Officer. About You: Expert specialist knowledge of complex commercial contracts in a highly regulated environment Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce high quality reports on behalf of the Director team Legal knowledge is desirable, with the ability to critique and evaluate the legalities of complex documents Ability to establish relationships on many levels – both formal and informal – to create relationships of trust and influence especially with the client Knowledge of the rail industry is beneficial but essential is the ability to quickly absorb and digest new and complex information.
