Department: Press Shop & Heat Treatments
Role Summary
Our client in Hamble, Southampton is seeking a skilled and experienced aerospace welder/brazer to be part of the Press Shop & Heat Treatments department. The successful applicant will be an Aerospace approved welder and have completed an NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in engineering processes such as mechanical or aeronautical engineering, with a basic understanding of materials utilized in the aviation industry and related processes.
Shift Details & Pay:
Early Shift: Monday to Thursday (06:00 - 14:15), Friday (06:00 - 12:00). Pay: £30 UMB or £22.23 PAYE + Holiday.
Role Expectations:
Key responsibilities include welding to aerospace standards, maintaining compliance with quality and safety protocols, and contributing to team initiatives.
Experience Requirements:
Specific expertise in TIG welding, light gauge aluminium alloys, and aerospace-standard certifications like BCAR A8-10. Experience in training/mentoring others in welding techniques is a significant advantage.
Essential Responsibilities
1. EHS - Promote a safe workplace environment without risk to health and minimize environmental impact. Ensure adherence to Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and report all accidents and incidents.
2. Clocking and Booking - Ensure accurate and timely clockings (time and attendance) and bookings (job costings).
3. Housekeeping - Maintain cleanliness of workstations and proper storage of tools and equipment. Uphold a clear desk policy.
4. Quality - Comply with all Quality standards, processes, and procedures. Complete all work with care and attention, minimizing wastage.
5. Cost Management - Support cost reduction and management initiatives by reducing unnecessary expenditure.
6. Knowledge & Skills - Keep knowledge and training up to date to achieve specification and acceptable standards for your role. For example, maintain Approved Operator (AO) stamp(s).
7. Team Working - Actively participate in team meetings, share knowledge, coach, and mentor trainees when required, and be willing to be trained in other areas.
Role Specific Responsibilities (Will include but is not limited to):
1. Aerospace approved welder having completed an NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification, ideally a Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Engineering.
2. Actively partake in training other personnel in welding and be the site's subject matter expert in welding/brazing.
3. The ability to manually TIG weld various types of metallic components including aluminium alloys, in accordance with aerospace standards.
4. Capability to carry out welding techniques on light gauge aluminium alloys.
5. Certification in accordance with, or equivalent to CAA's BCAR A8-10.
6. Undertake other welding methods to support the business when necessary.
7. Operate as part of a team, working closely with quality and engineering, and assist in generating Standard Operating Procedures.
8. Adopt a positive 'can do' attitude to problem solving.
9. Process, interpret, and evaluate components to customer drawings and specifications.
10. Subject to successful approval of periodic welding test pieces as required.
11. Share knowledge and train when required, holding a TA stamp to over-stamp work, and be willing to be trained in other areas.
12. Any other reasonable duties that fall in line with the level of the role.

Security Clearance
Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role. Adherence to ITAR restrictions.
