Job Overview
This post is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, committed and experienced practitioner to strengthen their safeguarding portfolio to lead and drive safeguarding activity within CAMHS. This is a new post within CAMHS and you will be a key leader in the wider safeguarding team which consists of Named Nurses (community, acute, adult and midwifery services), Specialist Nurses for Safeguarding, Looked After Children, Multi Agency Safeguarding and Complex Safeguarding Hub Specialist Nurses and Administration staff.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will need to be highly motivated to ensure safe and effective services for safeguarding vulnerable children and adults remains a priority for all staff working within the organisation across CAMHS.
You will need excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and a flair for critically evaluating information and recording it in a concise and accurate manner. Feel comfortable working under pressure, adept at prioritising and working flexibly often to tight deadlines, possess professional curiosity and the ability to provide professional challenge.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* RN/RMN/SW with substantial post-registration experience.
* 1st Level degree in social work, nursing or health-related subject.
* Evidence of relevant Safeguarding Children Qualification and/or looked after children/Young People Qualification.
* Leadership and change management certificate or willingness to complete.
* Diploma/degree and/or experience in a CAMHS setting.
* Master’s degree or working towards Teaching qualification.
Experience
* Evidence of significant direct safeguarding children/Looked after Children experience at band 7 or above.
* Experience of delivering safeguarding supervision.
* Significant experience in a senior clinical position with a proven ability to manage a team.
* Experience of contributing to LCSPRs and the subsequent action plans.
* Experience of successfully managing the implementation of change.
* Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice.
* Experience of policy development and implementation and delivery of education programmes in single and multi-agency setting.
* Evidence of involvement in multi-agency safeguarding children/looked after children/young people subgroups.
* Evidence and experience of implementing and coordinating safeguarding children’s procedures within a multi-agency team.
* Experience of undertaking and contributing to single and multi-agency audit.
* Aware of issues affecting ethnic minority families and other socially excluded groups.
* In-depth knowledge of children’s health and development and the nature and impact of child maltreatment.
* Safeguarding adults experience.
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
* Expert knowledge of relevant legislation relating to safeguarding children and looked after children/young people.
* Evidence of current knowledge of local and national policies relating to safeguarding children and relevant professional and NHS policy initiatives.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to provide written and verbal reports for safeguarding children procedures.
* Confidence to challenge appropriately in difficult situations.
* Ability to analyse and critically evaluate information and record in a concise and accurate manner.
* The ability to practice as an expert practitioner in relation to safeguarding children.
* Ability to communicate across organisational boundaries.
* Ability to work under pressure, to prioritise, work flexibly and to tight deadlines.
* IT skills relating to PowerPoint, Excel.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
