Salary: Grade 5: £24,408 - £24,795Actual salary: £16,536 - £16,798Hours: Monday-Friday – 8.20am -2.50pm, 30 Hours per weekTerm time only (38 weeks per year)Closing date: Tuesday 7th January at 12 noonInterview date: Tuesday 14th January 2025Job Purpose: This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated candidate to join our Learning Development Team, working with students to ensure they achieve their full potential. Main duties and responsibilities:
To help to promote the general progress and well being of students with SEN. Working either within the class, small groups or one to one.
To provide direct practical support for the integration of individual students with physical disabilities in practical classes to ensure their full engagement in all aspects of college life.
To provide support for the integration of statemented students in curriculum classes.
To assist class teachers who are teaching groups which include students with SEN.
To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teacher’s lesson plans.
To observe and feed back to the teacher on pupil performance and behaviour, taking action as appropriate in line with relevant school policies.
To be part of tutor time and the Catch-up literacy and numeracy programmes.
To provide supervision in the Learning Development Department as required.
To assist in the preparation and differentiation of materials, e.g. enlarging text, photocopying.
To assist with SEN record keeping, the writing of Student Passports, testing of students and with the maintenance of the school SEN Record.
To assist in real emergencies, should the teacher have to leave the classroom.
To help to safeguard students’ health and safety, particularly in the context of practical classes.
To participate in school SEN meetings either in or out of College hours, as required.
To participate in training as appropriate.
To participate in Statement Review meetings and work experience visits, as required.
