Specialist Scrub Practitioner - General/Breast Surgery

The Day Surgery Unit at Harrogate District Hospital is hoping to recruit a new Band 6 lead for General Surgery and Breast Surgery. This is a brilliant and rare opportunity to join Harrogate District Hospital, a forward thinking, multi-speciality team that deliver high quality care to patients. Our department is currently undergoing a refurbishment with the aim for 2025 to be a nationally accredited surgical hub.
The post holder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, and play an essential role assisting the Speciality Lead in teaching, developing and leading the perioperative team.
The Day surgery theatre suite comprises of 3 elective theatres, providing high quality care to adults and children undergoing surgical procedures, Monday - Saturday. Includes a day ward unit to facilitate day case surgery.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will play a key role in the assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient care and be responsible for co-ordinating activity within the perioperative environment. They will ensure effective communication and the delivery of safe patient care at all times, within a professional multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will facilitate new developments and influence positive change in the clinical environment based on current evidence and research. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, who will be involved in staff recruitment, induction, personal performance reviews and absence management. There will be some responsibility for budgetary monitoring and resource management and to support the Speciality Lead and Matron in achieving financial balance. You will also deputise for the Speciality Lead in their absence and assist in the effective running and co-ordination of the Day Surgery Unit as a whole.
The post-holder should provide expert leadership, support and development to the multidisciplinary team.

Essential and Desirable
* NMC/HCPC Registration
* Educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate through previous experience
* Experience at Band 5 for a minimum of 2 years in Scrub.
* Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
* Experience of clinical leadership
* Previous experience at band 6
* Leadership and Management qualifications
* Participating in staff Appraisals/Personal Development Plans and competencies
* Experience of General Surgery and Breast Surgery
