Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a Newcastle based secondary school that caters for children who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful Learning Support Assistant will support teachers and participate in the wellbeing and development of students with SEMH needs. This school takes pride in upholding its fundamental principles, providing great education to 100 students in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday, 8:30am until 4:00pm and is a long-term position.
The successful candidate will have:
1. Enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one
2. Experience collaborating with vulnerable individuals who have educational health care plans
3. Demonstrated understanding of SEMH children and the various behaviours they may display
4. Confidence in working closely with students, providing support in their learning, and participating in general classroom activities
5. Adaptable communication skills towards children, whether in a 1:1 setting or in small groups
6. Ability to promote positive behaviour and foster the confidence of pupils
