Location: South Coast- You can be based in one of our offices within Southern Water patch- Chatham, Falmer, Durrington, Otterbourne- Hybrid- 3 office/ site and 2 WFH- It is essential for you to have a driving licence due to site visit requirements

As a Senior Water Quality Process Scientist working within our Compliance team, you will be Investigating water quality breaches (sample failures) by analyzing data, sourcing information and working collaboratively across functions. You will play a key role in ensuring that the frontline Operations and Scientific teams maintain compliance with both Environment Agency and Drinking Water Inspectorate Regulations governing abstraction, discharge and water quality. As part of the role in ensuring water quality compliance, you will undertake detailed investigations into the root cause of water quality compliance failures and produce reports with recommendations for remedial actions and continuous improvement.
As the Senior Process Scientist within this team your primary focus will be to go through detailed root cause analysis investigations following any breach of DWI PCV limits in the potable water quality at our Water Supply Works, Reservoirs or Zones. This will include site visits, in depth data analysis and auditing of paperwork and adherence to procedures in order to recommend measures that can be taken both locally and across our region to prevent such breaches occurring in the future. You will then help to implement these measures by working with other teams to edit or write procedures and produce Operational Briefings to staff at all levels within the business.
To be successful in this role you must have a strong understanding of water chemistry/biology and the principles of water treatment, and of regulatory requirements affecting the provision of wholesome drinking water. Excellent written/verbal communication and data analytic skills are essential due to the requirement of producing reports and analysis to stakeholders at all levels. Ideally you will also have a Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline however it is not essential.
