Watson Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions is an SSE PLC Group company. SSE (London Stock Exchange - FTSE 50) is a manufacturer of engineered solutions, employing 8500 people across 130+ operating units globally. We offer a range of fluid handling solutions across the biotech and industrial markets.
This role will focus on:
* The role of Buyer is to work on several projects to help with the achievement of operational purchasing objectives. Raising manual purchase orders for both direct and indirect goods such as, but not limited to, stock items, fittings, consumables, and maintenance parts, from the department inbox.
* Negotiating the best price and lead times from Suppliers.
* Identifying and leading opportunities within the business for innovation, cost savings, waste reduction, and continuous improvement.
* Reducing the number of day-to-day requisitions and utilizing the stock system.
* Managing and setting up contracts.
* Obtaining quotes for the requesting departments and updating stock cards.
* Completing the daily low stock sheet.
* Quarterly usage check on export orders, to maintain the correct quantity being ordered.
* Ensuring that orders are placed in a timely and appropriate manner and that lead times and delivery schedules are appropriately managed.
* Reduction of category management for the large number of suppliers to be rationalized.
* Supplier Non-Conformances processing.
* Updating cost savings and increases.
* Following the Company policy and procedures to the highest standard.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* CIPS / IoSCM would be beneficial.
* Experience dealing with contracting.
* Technical knowledge in a buying role.
* Manufacturing and Engineering buying experience.
* Experience of implementing change.
* Knowledge of raw materials such as Steel / PTFE / EPDM / SILICONE etc. would be beneficial.
* Ability to effectively use computer and communication technology such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and Excel.
* Strong planning and organization skills.
* Ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
* Self-motivated and capable of decision making.
* Strong communication and time management skills.
* Driven and enjoys the challenge of change.
