Job Summary
Using theoretical knowledge & evidence based practice, the post holder will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic play interventions while being aware of the emotional needs of the hospitalised child. We support a wide range of developmental abilities and some with complex and challenging behaviors. We work alongside the Multi-disciplinary team and liaise with external agencies to support the child in the best possible way in the Hospital environment. Our role utilises our skills and our knowledge of the Hospitalised child to offer them the support they need while offering a holistic approach to the care we give to the child and family.
Main Duties of the Job
We as a team alongside the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust recognise the importance of play and the impact it can have on a patient's experience. We are looking for someone who is committed to meeting the psychological and emotional needs of the child and family in the Hospital environment. A caring and compassionate disposition is required, along with the ability to show initiative and work alongside the multi-disciplinary team.
For this post we require:
* The professional Diploma in Specialised Play for Sick Children and Young People or equivalent, or be in the second year of the foundation degree course in Hospital play specialism.
* We require you to be a qualified Health Play Specialist and registered with SOHPS unless you are undertaking the Foundation degree.

Person Specification:
Qualification/Training Essential:
* FdA Healthcare Play Specialism / Professional Diploma in Specialised Play for Sick Children and Young People or equivalent
* Registered with HPSET
Experience Essential:
* Experience and evidence of further development
* Evidence of working within a MDT team
Personal Qualities Essential:
* Able to function effectively in challenging situations
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Able to use initiative and be able to cope and adjust to change
Circumstances Desirable:
* Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service in conjunction with other members of the team
