About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
About the role
You will be part of a dynamic growing team of officers in the Tree and Nature Conservation Service to help manage and maintain Haringey’s trees. You will provide professional advice and support on all tree-related matters in accordance with Council strategies, current legislation, industry best practice, and published guidance. Additionally, you will assist with the coordination of all matters relating to the procurement and monitoring of tree maintenance in the borough, maintaining close working relationships with a range of stakeholders including other council services such as Highways, Parks, Haringey Homes, as well as residents, contractors, and councillors.
About the team
The Tree and Nature Conservation Service is responsible for the management of trees on Council land, including its parks and woodlands, our tree planting programme, and all the allotments in the borough. The team is currently made up of 3 Arboricultural Officers, a Nature Conservation Officer, an Urban Forest Project Officer, an Allotment Officer, and a Technical Support Officer.
About you
We are looking for a candidate with 3 years’ experience working in the Arboricultural Industry and at least 2 years’ experience working as a Local Authority Arboricultural Officer. You should have a good working knowledge of existing legislation, industry best practice, and tree work operations. You should also have knowledge of basic tree biology, pests, diseases, and disorders that affect trees. You must be able to undertake tree surveys/inspections, preferably using Confirm Arboriculture, and must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
