Customs Clearance Clerk
Our client is currently looking for an Import Customs Clearance clerk to work at their offices in Felixstowe. The client is a freight forwarder dealing in Sea and Road freight with extensive warehouse operations.
Duties will include:
· Prepare and submit required customs documentation for clearance.
· Create CHED documents for POAO shipments via Government Gateway
· Create T1 transit documents.
· Ensure goods and shipments comply with relevant local, national, and international regulations.
· Coordinate with customs officers and regulatory bodies to ensure timely clearance of goods.
· Track and manage clearance status for incoming and outgoing shipments.
· Maintain accurate and up to date records of all customs and clearance related documentation.
· Ensure that all required invoices, permits, and certificates are available and verified before submission for the clearance process.
· Liaise with internal departments (logistics, procurement, etc.) to ensure smooth clearance operations.
· Communicate with suppliers, vendors, and customs officials to resolve any issues related to clearance.
· Provide updates to the customer and resolve any clearance-related issues, including delays or discrepancies in the documentation.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of customs regulations, import/export procedures, and clearance processes.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), and familiarity with Multifreight software is a plus.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Problem-solving skills to address and resolve clearance-related challenges.
Requirements
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Deepsea & EU customs is preferable.
Experience with customs documentation
