Job summary
To further support the on-going development of our Nephrology and Transplant nursing workforce we are looking to recruit an experienced renal nurse in a Practice Educator role. The successful candidate will act as the clinical lead for the Nephrology and Transplant Practice Development Team and will also coordinate the clinical governance strategy across the directorate to ensure standards of excellence in clinical practice and patient care.
It is essential that the successful candidate has extensive Nursing experience within the Nephrology and Transplant setting including Haemodialysis, Peritoneal dialysis and Transplantation and a passion for nurse development and staff wellbeing.
Candidates are also required to have knowledge of current developments in Nursing Practice; Clinical Governance, Standard Setting and Quality Assurance and excellent understanding of clinical and professional requirements, according to external policies/ standards and external bodies (NMC etc). Candidates will also demonstrate evidence of providing learning support; knowledge of Change Management Theories; Research Awareness and Experience of Implementing Changes in Practice.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will lead and coordinate the clinical governance and communication channels across the directorate in response to strategic objectives from Welsh Government, HIW, Specialist Services Clinical Board and the UHB. There is the expectation that the postholder perform data analysis and identify key themes and trends utilising clinical audits and incident reporting systems.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the practice development team to support the delivery and achievement of the workforce development and sustainability. They will maintain a high level of visibility within the Nephrology and Transplant clinical areas, building positive relationships and maintaining excellent communication and organisational skills. The post holder will devise, deliver and evaluate training programmes of clinically relevant education to ensure the professional development of all members of the nursing team and facilitate a culture of support and engagement. Education and training programmes required for delivery will be identified through a variety of processes including training needs analysis, service development reviews, bespoke requests and clinical audits.
The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the Transplant Recipient on call rota on a Monday - Friday basis.
