This is an exciting opportunity to work within a historic building. The post holder will be required to carry out installation and maintenance of electrical power supplies to Liverpool Cathedral (Commercial), Cathedral Estate (Commercial), and Cathedral Housing (Residential), ensuring that all electrical works and alterations are in accordance with the relevant NICEIC Institute, Electrical Engineers (IEE), and British Standards.
The job will require a mixture of reactive electrical repairs and planned or preventative maintenance electrical repairs.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. To carry out electrical testing and inspection and rectification/compliance works required under NICEIC including Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and self-certifications.
2. To inspect existing electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance.
3. To assemble, install, test, certify, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
4. To plan and carry out electrical small projects and support multi-trade building projects.
5. To repair or replace distribution boards, electrical wiring, lighting, and a wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment and fixtures using hand tools and power tools, including minor building work and making good.
6. To diagnose malfunctioning mechanical and electrical systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
7. To assist the Clerk of Works in the compilation of the Cathedral Asset Register and liaison with appointed Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and/or Insurers.
8. To undertake such additional duties as might reasonably be requested by the Clerk of Works.
9. To undertake safeguarding training as instructed and as necessary.
