Job Description

What will I be doing?
Safran Landing Systems in Gloucester is offering a challenging but exciting opportunity to join our Manufacturing Engineering team. This department is central within the production organisation and is responsible for establishing robust processes that produce quality products in line with customer expectations. With significant emphasis given to the modernisation of equipment and systems in line with the 'Digital Strategy', this is an exciting time to join the team.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will require a competent level of knowledge and understanding of production techniques. With a number of technical and project-based opportunities available, you could be exposed to a diverse and varied workload, such as specifying new assets, refining existing production methods, or industrialising new production parts. To support your activities, you will be working closely with other functional departments, particularly Production, Quality and Engineering, to ensure robust techniques and controls are put in place that satisfy the Certification and Industrialisation requirements.
Key aspects of this job include the following:
1. Creation / Maintenance of Manufacturing Layouts defining product routing and methods in line with company procedures. This includes Generating Salvage & Rectification layouts for any non-conforming parts.
2. Creation of CNC programs utilising company preferred CAM software. Adoption of robust methodologies and adherence to closed door strategies in line with company strategy.
3. Creation of Stage Models to reflect the components routing indicating content at each operation.
4. Conception of new Fixture Design to ensure robust component holding. This includes the generation of relevant fixture models and drawings.
5. Support the generation of PPAP documentation defining component characteristic measurement and control methodology. This involves supporting industrialisation reviews throughout each phase of the PPAP process.
6. Support PFMEA reviews, ensuring outcomes drive product and process improvements.
7. Support utilisation and deployment of new systems and tools in line with the company's 'Digital Strategy'.
8. Support investigations / Root Cause Analysis for any defective part and implementing the corrective actions.
9. Assist with commissioning of new production assets.

Candidate Skills & Requirements
What do you need from me?
You will need a comprehensive knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering compounded by the following:
1. An HNC / HND in a related engineering discipline or equivalent manufacturing engineering experience is essential.
2. Degree level in related Engineering discipline would be desirable.
3. Knowledge of CATIA V5 or equivalent CAD software.
4. Sound knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, along with Functional Tolerancing & Annotation of 2D & 3D Model Based Definition. To ASMEY14.5 2009 & ISO1011 2004 standards.
5. Proficient user of Microsoft office suite.
6. Lean experience (Green Belt preferable)
7. Motivated to develop and learn new skills.
8. Be innovative and creative with regards to problem solving.
9. Able to pursue and deliver objectives with minimal direction.
10. Work effectively within allocated teams (cross functional and inter-departmental).
11. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to communicate at various levels within the business.
12. Ability to write technical reports, clearly and accurately.
13. Open to Senior Level experience.
