Working as part of a team of Test Technician and Engineers, (after a period of training) you will take ownership of the set up and completion of EMC or RF test projects and the accurate delivery of results to customers.
We have a flexible approach to our recruitment and are able to consider candidates at a Technician level offering training to an entry level candidate or engage a more experienced candidate at an Engineer level role. Details of the essential requirements for each level of position can be found below for your reference.
This role offers 37 working hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Work closely with customers, Engineers and Project Managers to provide EMC or RF testing in both screened enclosure and in-situ environments.
* Provide support to customers in advance of, or during, the test programme, particularly communicating issues during any failure phase of their test programme.
* Development of new services, test methods and other departmental documentation.
* Recording test results using various electronic logbook systems and production of test reports, following company quality procedures.
* Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements or defined Test Plan supplied by the customer, assisting with the development of test plans with the customer as necessary.
* Close liaison with the Project Manager and/or customer, to provide technical support and ensure work is carried out accurately and within the timescales allowed.
Essential Criteria for Technician level role:
* Manual dexterity and ability/experience using a variety of hand tools
* A desire and aptitude to learn
* A good attention to detail and ability to follow concise processes
* Willing to work offsite away from home as required on an ad hoc basis
* Capable of carrying out data manipulation and analysis using Microsoft Excel.
* Motivated and enthusiastic, with a willingness to learn and a flexible approach to work.
* IT proficient with the ability to use bespoke software and Microsoft packages including Windows, Word and Outlook.
* Ability to deliver work independently or as a team, to defined deadlines.
* Conscientious with good interpersonal, customer skills and commercial awareness.
* Flexible approach to work – willing to work overtime, shift-work or on customer sites when required.
In addition to the above criteria, for an Engineer level role we would also require:
* Experience of using RF test equipment such as spectrum/network analyser, oscilloscope, signal generator, RF power meter etc.
* Engineering experience in a test based role
Desirable Criteria for either Technician or Engineer role:
* A good understanding of analogue/digital communications technologies and networks, with exposure to serial interfaces such as RS232.
* Educated to Level 3 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or be able to demonstrate equivalent and relevant experience.
* An understanding of the requirements of the COSPAS SARSAT / RTCM / IEC / EN standards.
* A full driving licence.
* Experience programming in VB.net.
* Experience performing RF accredited testing.
* Knowledge of Emergency Beacon functionality and the certification requirements.
