We are seeking to appoint a Business Services Officer to cover Maternity Leave, working within the Place Information Governance Team to provide solutions and support to a range of activities and be recognised as a main point of contact for senior managers in relation to the requirements of the Access to Information legislation and Information Governance in general.
You will have responsibility for processing information access requests under the Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation, Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and Subject Access Requests (SAR), ensuring responses to requests for information are within timescales.
You will also advise and support colleagues on compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK General Data Protection Regulation and assist in advising on Council project work through Data Protection Impact Assessments, Sharing Agreements and Privacy Notices.
Role Overview:
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring compliance with Access to Information legislation and Information Governance practices. You will handle information access requests, including those under the Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation, Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), and Subject Access Requests (SAR). Your timely responses will be critical.
Key Responsibilites:
Coordinating the departments response to information requests
1. Advising and supporting colleagues on compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK General Data Protection Regulation.
2. Educating colleagues on their duties related to Access to Information issues and providing guidance of the relevant regulations.
3. Assisting in Council project work by conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments, drafting Sharing Agreements, and creating Privacy Notices.
What skills and experience do you need to have:

4. The confidence to work under pressure and manage several tasks simultaneously.
5. Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills.
6. Understanding of retention schedules, records management, and data classification.
7. The ability to be concise, act swiftly, and meet agreed-upon deadlines.
8. Excellent communication and analytical skills.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
The team is contractually based in County Hall, Matlock, but as part of our Modern Ways of Working programme we are currently working on a hybrid basis. There will be an opportunity to discuss future working arrangements at interview.
