We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Roads Design Engineer with extensive planning and design experience to join an expanding Highways and Transportation team in Cork (location can be flexible to Galway of Dublin as well). This role requires a proactive, motivated engineer comfortable leading projects and guiding junior staff within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the planning and design of road, rail, public transport, and active travel projects across Ireland.
* Participate in statutory processes, including Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) and Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO).
* Prepare detailed contract documents, oversee contract administration, and provide construction supervision.
* Conduct feasibility studies and manage design phases for road and transportation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and client requirements.
Requirements:
* Significant experience in a consultancy setting, with a strong background in road scheme development, feasibility studies, and both preliminary and detailed design.
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Level 8/9).
* Chartered Engineer status or eligibility to attain it within the next 12 months.
* Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley OpenRoads.
* Knowledge of Irish design standards (TII / NTA) and proven ability to implement value-driven, buildable designs.
* Prior experience with design-and-build projects is advantageous.
* Full Irish/EU driving license required.
