Job Title: Engineering Manager
Location: Portsdown Technology Park, Portsmouth
Salary: Circa £70,000 depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
1. Leading the important engineering activities which enable the Maritime Integration Support Centre (MISC) tools and technologies to be delivered to our customers. This includes liaising with the NCSISS (Naval Ships Combat Systems Integration Services) programme, Professional Services portfolio, and wider customers to determine the scope of work, schedule, priorities, and subsequent delivery of work.
2. Actively engaging in engineering activities, where needed, to ensure the team succeeds.
3. Driving adherence to engineering governance and process, including continued Secure By Design assurance of the MISC Integration Support Environment.
4. Driving delivery of engineering-led documentation and deliverables, including technical reviews, producing statements of work, and maintaining management plans.
5. Conducting monthly CAM and resourcing reviews.
6. Close engagement with the MISC Senior Technologist to develop and embody future technologies and strategies enabling the MISC’s exciting growth opportunities.
Your skills and experiences:
* Proactive leadership of an engineering team with a significant amount of autonomy and empowerment to deliver the required services and outputs.
* Sound understanding, backed up by experience, of the systems engineering lifecycle, including both software and hardware development, plus transverse engineering (e.g., Security Assurance, ILS).
* Good understanding of IP networks (protocols, switching & routing) and virtualization technologies & containerization.
* Leads by example and helps set the tone for the way the work is enacted.
* Ability to grasp emergent technologies and understand how these can be applied to the existing or future integration tools (e.g., Machine Learning).

MISC Tools & Tech team:
This role will lead the engineering tasks carried out by the MISC Tools & Tech team, acting as the team’s Engineering Manager, as well as carrying out some of the engineering tasks. The majority of these tasks are associated with the development and maintenance of the Integration Support Environment at the MISC, located at Portsdown Technology Park.
