Service Manager - Alternative Provision Job Share
Our Alternative Provision and Educational Welfare Services are searching for a dedicated and experienced education professional to provide leadership at a senior level on a 0.4 job-share basis, initially for one year. This is equally an outstanding career development opportunity, or a career downsizing opportunity, for the right person. You will work with your job-share partner to ensure that the most vulnerable children and young people in Wakefield receive their entitlement to an effective and appropriate education across the service.
Your responsibilities will encompass our Education Welfare Service (EWS) and School Exclusions Team (SET). You will line manage our highly experienced EWS and SET Manager to develop the good practice and process already in place across the teams and ensure that initiatives already drafted for the second year of our district-wide Attendance Strategy are developed and embedded with partners and stakeholders. These include measures to improve our Elective Home Education, extended absence and Children Missing Education offers. Skills in data analysis will be useful as we embed our new live data feeds and performance measures. Alongside you, your job share partner will lead and line manage the extensive Alternative Provision aspects of the full-time role, such as our AP Panel system.
You will be committed to inclusion and to being an effective advocate for children and young people at their time of need. You will also be an excellent team player and able to build and maintain partnerships with a range of stakeholders such as other LA services and school senior leaders across the district. You will also represent the LA at a variety of senior board meetings.
This post is advertised to start as soon as possible and is temporary for one year with the potential for the post to be extended and or made substantive dependent upon funding. It is available as a standalone job share 0.4 role but could also, for example, be a secondment opportunity which combines the 0.4 post with another substantive post elsewhere at 0.6.
You will benefit from a close and well-established team, a skilled and knowledgeable job share partner who understands your role, and a Head of Service who will support and aid in your development.
Interested? We would love to hear from you! Please get in touch with Katie Pennington to discuss this opportunity further.
The closing date for this role is: Friday 27th September 2024
Interviews to be held w/c: 30th of October 2024
