The Role
As the Engineering Tech Lead, you’ll take charge of both the technical strategy and delivery for your squad. You’ll split your time between hands-on coding, team mentoring, and driving best practices. From creating robust, scalable infrastructure to delivering platform services, you’ll lead by example, empowering your team to excel.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Lead and inspire a high-performing engineering squad to deliver platform enhancements, infrastructure improvements, and CI/CD pipelines.
* Spend around 30% of your time coding and delivering key projects, setting high technical standards for your team.
* Mentor and upskill engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to define priorities, break down projects into manageable deliverables, and ensure alignment with business goals.
* Champion Agile processes, driving efficiency, and a strong delivery focus within your team.
* Implement modern engineering principles like microservices, event-driven systems, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
* Take ownership of incident management to ensure minimal downtime and fast recovery for critical systems.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and technical innovation.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience leading engineering teams while balancing hands-on coding and leadership.
* Strong background in building and managing DevOps environments.
* Expertise in tools like Docker, Terraform, and GitHub workflows for CI/CD pipelines.
* Experience working with event-driven architectures, NoSQL/SQL databases, and caching tools like Redis.
* Solid understanding of REST APIs and microservices architecture.
* A delivery-driven mindset with excellent problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
* Familiarity with Agile methodologies and a strong grasp of team dynamics.
Desirable Skills:
* Knowledge of MACH and Composable Commerce architectures.
* Hands-on experience with React, Next.js, GraphQL, TypeScript, Node.js, and C#.
* Exposure to tools such as Amplience, commercetools, and Algolia.
* Experience supporting and maintaining cloud-hosted systems
